The fabulous, 5-Star Amanyara Turks & Caicos sits on a rocky shore overlooking the coral reefs of Point Marine National Park. The beach that fronts the resort, Malcolm’s Road Beach, is incredibly pristine and is surrounded by a full 100 acres of private estate, mostly lush tropical forest. The place feels peaceful and secluded, which, well, it certainly is, but we are still only 20 minutes from Providenciales International Airport here. Amanyara features Indonesian-inspired structures and villas, almost all built over the water or at the very least alongside the water. But in this case, not over the sea as is the most typical for traditional overwater bungalows, but over very placid, private ponds or pools. Overwater Bungalows & Other Accommodation: Your accommodation choices range in size from cozy one-bedroom overwater suite pavilions to really fabulous, two to six-bedroom, overwater villas. The terraces of each are shaded by eaves on three sides and have floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening out to their private pools. The villas are serviced by what they term a villa host, rather like a butler, and the three-to-six-bedroom villas also have their own personal chefs. Both the villas and the pavillions feature a nicely soothing combination of wood and cream colors, comfortable lounge furniture, and king-sized beds. We think you’ll probably find you’ll spend most of your time outdoors here though. Surrounded by elegant shaded terraces and sundecks, the outside space is even more attractive. The main restaurant’s delightful terrace is the place for breakfast. There we have a wide range of a la carte options, from crispy bacon to Thai kingfish Benedict, alongside a buffet of fresh fruit, cold meats, cheeses, pastries, muesli, yogurts, and fresh juices, Then there’s lunch at the Beach Club, where you can enjoy random dishes like gazpacho or wood-fired spicy pepperoni pizza with avocado relish. Some might skip the complimentary teas and coffees there and go straight for a champagne mojito or basil and cucumber gimlet. Accompanying your drinks can be all manner of delectable nibbles, and cigar enthusiasts can also enjoy a Davidoff Yamasa Robusto, available from the bar. Evening dinner at the, quite casual, ‘The Restaurant’ is the culinary highlight. A very global menu features dishes ranging from tom yam soup and green curry chicken to Turks and Caicos lobster. The food is organic at Amanyara with many of the ingredients coming fresh from the resort’s own hydroponic farm. Resorts With Overwater Bungalows in Turks and Caicos? There’s Only One!
Turks & Caicos has just one resort with overwater bungalows and that is the super impressive, super-luxury, Amanyara Resort, just 20 minutes from Providenciales International Airport.
Their overwater bungalows, or pavilions & villas as they call them, are perched over private ponds and pools so you might not get the classic over-the-open sea or lagoon aesthetic.
That being said they, along with pretty much everything about the resort, are stunning, and offer levels of comfort and luxury worthy of such a fabulous 5-Star resort.
